"Jesus did not defeat the devil in those 40 days in the wilderness because He quoted Scripture at the devil. That is the silliest thing I've ever heard. But, it is predominant in the land, isn't it? He didn't defeat the devil by quoting Scripture at the devil. He defeated the devil by obeying the Scripture He quoted. Do you see that? Do you see that? This is not wizardry. This is not magic. This is faith and obedience. That's what this is." -- Paul Washer
"In order to enjoy the Word, we ought to continue to read it, and the way to obtain a spirit of prayer is to continue praying; for the less we read the Word of God, the less we desire to read it, and the less we pray, the less we desire to pray." -- George Muller.
"If a bird is flying for pleasure, it flies with the wind; but, if it meets danger, it turns and faces the wind, in order that it may rise higher." -- Corrie ten Boom
I'm reading Ezekiel 3:7-11. So, pondering that: God made His prophet as 'hard-faced' and as 'hard-headed' as the rebellious, hard-headed Israel? Does this mean He can make those bringing messages to His stubborn people just as serious and just as stubborn, only for God rather than against God? Whether those against hear or not (refusing), God will send the message to them. So, was John the baptist just as serious and 'in-your-face' as the Pharisees so that maybe it was serving more as a warning than as a message they will soften their hearts to? To be just and fair, God sends blunt, loud messages so they cannot truthfully say they were not forewarned?
